hello fellow hursters! NTUWKWSCIFOC2007 just ended a few days ago.. and i was just thinking about OUR own FOC last year. time really flies isnt it! i still kinda miss being a freshie. and the all-too-emotional us last yr during FOC. like what zixin said, we're "united in common memory" haha.. i really thank each one of u in HUR who has made my stay in SCI so so so much better, because i feel so loved. haha.. looking at the juniors make me feel so old la!
and marcus, if u're reading this, i think all of us year 2s (ouch) will miss you n your fun. and OF COURSE we'll welcome u back to FOC next year and every yr! dont cry!! :):)
school is going to start soon soon soon! i am personally quite apprehensive about it. does anyone still visit this blog? haha..

Revival of THE Blog

Nobody has been here to post up stuff for ages man. I tried logging in to find that we're now forced to use some google thingie to sign in to the blogger. Being a tech idiot and all, I any-o-how signed us up for an email acc: hur2006@gmail.com [pw: hur2006blog]. So we'll be using this to log in from now on ya? P/S: How dangerous is it to post up passwords online like what I've just done? The tagboard's a gone case by the way. Expired, so I was told.
How now brown cow? How's everyone surviving in school these days? Me and Xx are up to our neck with work at internship. Hopefully, we'll survive well enough to catch you guys next sem, assuming you guys haven run off to some faraway land for internship.

Hi Hur-sters! ..thou i dunno who still comes here.. :(
anyway, im juz here to wish all of u guys and gals all the best for your first exams in uni. It can get pretty stressful, since now u all got the GPA system which means ur grades matter more. No more last minute mugging success enjoyed by us seniors. (not like it helps a lot anyway lar). Here's some useful tips for all of u 1st timers!!
1. Check out the exam venue before hand. NTU isnt small, as u shld have realised by now.
2. If lost, ask. If u dun dare to ask, follow the CS crowd at boon lay. If u follow the wrong crowd......God help you.
3. The exam will be conducted in a large holding area, with the air con on at full blast. Do bring along a sweater juz in case ur brain freezes over.
4. CS people always delete the email asking us to register calculators....u know why
5. If you cant finish the paper and think u've failed, well.....many others probably feel the same way. But in fact, it's pretty hard to fail in CS..really
6. Try to include real world examples in ur answers. Shows the prof that u are able to link theories and apply them.
Last but not least.....enjoy the exam! cos sometimes, the questions themselves are pretty fun to answer~All the best and jiayou!!

hey all,
ok fyi la, im not sure abt the music use policy (largely bcos i've heard many conflicting sources, the worst of which is u cannot use any identifiable part of e song if u dun ask for copy right), so i advise u use free music like the website xx gave, or check out the technicians' music library.
reason y im saying this is tt u shudn't get used to using famous music, bcos if and when in the future, ur bj proj or any other work gets selected to be aired on tv, hafing these sorta tracks may be a pain if they ask u to replace it wif some other music.
of cos, if u dun ever intend for ur pieces to be on air, then go ahead n use e music u want. but when u go on to year2, ur projs start hafing the possibility of being aired... so careful abt e music tracks.

Hi people!
In response to Xx's post, I think there's a loophole regarding usage of music.
1. As long as you use less than 40 percent (need to double check figure) it wont be considered violating any law.
2. If it's for educational purpose, it will also not be considered as breaking the law (but most lecturers expect you to do the project beyond the academic requirement, like 229).
But people, remember, say no to piracy. For projects, ok. For personal use, buy the originals! (says Law)
And Xx, I happen not to consider myself as very old, but can't say the same for you though.. hurhur!! By default, those in the CI club committee = the senior attach, but usu will have to help out in other areas too (you three!). As for the rest, joining FOC is d.e.f.i.n.i.t.e.l.y. a darn good experience. Don't believe ask Jen or Xx or Jen or Xx.
Fake freshie can be fun for the rest and the foc comm, but the faker will feel like shit. Especially when you have to reveal to your OG at the end of it. Yup. So Xx--> Jen will be no fake freshie. Period. Fwahahaha..
School term is ending soon! Let's organise OG outing after the papers :)

Hello Fishies!!
Welcome back to school~~ hurhur..i know the 1 week break went by in a flash and most of u didn't even get a break. But its better than nth right :) Anyway, juz felt like thanking all of you for the great support you've given to ALL the CS events so far. From Paparazzi to DnD to rooftop concerts, i can safely bet that i'll see Hursters there. Real proud of u all!! And kudos for Joanne and her gang for dressing up so nicely for DnD. U folks really should get best dressed, and not dowdy looking Mr Adams! (The prize is a lousy CS mug anyway..if u want, come to me and i'll pass u some from the storeroom)
As you all know, jennifer and i have already steped down from the CI Club, and Kairu, Zixin and Shixiong has stepped up to take our places. So happy to see them inherit the passion we have from CS and hope they will have as much fun as we had in the Club. Continue to suport them ok!!

hey guys
How have you all been?! Nope, I'm not here to promote yet another CS event. Just that it has been a long while since we last met up (not pass by say hi in sch that kind) and I hope all you guys are doing well. I just finished a chunk of my mountain of work and thought of blogging, and here i am. Heh..
Heard some of you went for the papa on sat? How was it? I feel that it's something very different from the previous productions, interesting script in my opinion. But then again, you guys wouldn't have been there for the previous years'.. ha.. Hope you guys had fun. Xx went with you guys too?
And I received the tidbits on angel-mortal net! Thanks a bunch, people! I wasn't in school to see it for myself, but got a pleasant surprise when chacha called and told me about it. :)
For all those going crazy with all the projects, hang in there... the term break's just round the corner. We all work hard and play hard at CS... (Interuption: You can also de-stress at the annual CS D&D at Cocolatte on 27th September. Ticket only selling at $25)... can't help that.. hah.. You guys might want to make that an OG outing or something? Will have lots of fun cam whoring that night :P
Alrighty then, time for some beauty sleep. Hope the seniors (Marcus and Kerri!) are doing well too! Strive on peeps!

haha tallgirl85 and chacha are super funny nicknames and yet everyone can relate to them hahas. erm anw yupps i agree with shuhui that all the deadlines to projects are making everyone feel more or less stressed up la. but i think so far everyone still tries to have a positive attitude la. and xx, we are at the benches because of project discussions, BUT most of the time we'll end up disgressing and erm, yah start bitching abt things. lols. :\
angel-mortal is fun!.. i've helped 2 mortals find back their angel. haha kairu is good. :) and i think my angel is good too. very nice. so nice that shuhui wants my angel to adopt her. haha betrayal to her angel!
err venturing beyond the south spine is improving la. better than the 1st 2 weeks of school. at least now we try not to be TOO late for lectures. still trying to find our way ard, but i tink, there's hope! haha.. oh and i don't know anything abt Papa. haha the supper hop idea sounds cool though!! more details pls?!

Hello Jennifer and Cha Cha!

Anyhoos, deadlines are looming for all our projects right now. Pffft. I wonder if last minute work is still practised in Uni life? 0_0 And and and. It's a real pain jin the ass to venture beyond [HAHA] the south spine because i always take wrong turns! :(
My Angel's pretty nice i guess. I think i'm a very kiamsiap mortal, i havent been giving food to my Angel! No wonder she stopped feeding me too hur hur hur.

CALLING OUT TO FISHERMAN'S FRIENDS
Hey Hursters!
Time for some updates on school!! How are all your lessons and projects getting on? I suppose you guys should be getting used to the uni system already right? Common CS pain in the ass includes not getting the north-south directions right, the late project nights in school (mb not yet for you guys), lecturers who talk too much, talk too little, shout too much etc etc. Ohh!! How's the angel-mortal games for you guys? Hope your angels are nice, I didn't even figure out who my angel was back in year one till now.
Alrighty, am in lesson now. The lecturer's Duffy. Not Duffy Duck. But Andrew Duffy. He's an interesting lecturer. Am secretly blogging now. Shall pass the laptop over to Xx.. See you around in school! And say hi to my little pet (ask Charissa and Estelle about it) when you are free.

Anyway, hope sch's been fine for u guys/gals. Been seeing u all at the benches very often, usually having project discussions (unless its a bitching session) Dun get too stressed ok? You're all smart pple, so im sure u'll manage juz fine! ANd enjoy angel mortal game! write to ur angels, otherwise they'll be sad angels. :( Charissa's angel juz gave her a humongous bag of 30 cheese rings lar...spoil market :p
before i go back to my lecture, anyone going for DnD and Paparazzi? DnD is on 27th Sept and Papa is on 15 and 16th sept. DnD's at Coco Latte, while Papa will be at SRT. The club will also be organizing a supper hop on the 15th after the show ends.
In case ur wondering wat in the world a supper hop is, we'll be having a bus waiting for us outside the theatre after the show ends to bring us to supper places! We're still planning it, but geyland's definitely in the list of places going. Prepare to go home late that night! (it'll go past midnight for sure) Oh yar..and bring $$$
